Teign Men’s 1st XI opened up a lead at the top of
Southern 2 with an impressive 7-0 away win against Camborne SoM whilst their
title rivals Tavistock could only manage a draw with East Devon.
Four goals from Richie Fisher and a further hat-trick from
George Burningham helped to extend Teign’s lead to three points plus a far
superior goal difference.
Teign were expecting a difficult fixture after Camborne
provided a stiff test earlier in the season, however, after scoring from their
first and second attacks on goal to take a 2-0 advantage inside five minutes
the game became fairly routine. Further goals were added to put up an
insurmountable 5-0 lead at the interval.
The second half was more even and Teign did not add as many
goals to their tally as they perhaps should have done, only notching up two
more to round of a 7-0 score line. Camborne did create a host of chances of
their own but failed to beat Oliver Robinson in the Teign goal.
This weekend Teign entertain ECV Hornets in Dawlish.
