Isca 4s 2 – Teign 2s 1
Teign ladies 2s still struggling
to find their best form and missing key players, lost their fourth game in a
row as they went down to a strong Isca side. On a fast pitch Teign couldn't
quite match the pace with which Isca moved the ball and were often on the back
foot as the home side attacked. However the Teign defence was resolute and
managed the attacking threat well, despite the possession that Isca enjoyed,
Teign held strong. On occasion, Teign were able to break the Isca midfield and
attack the goal but were unlucky not hold possession and find the goal.
Teign were grateful to hear the half time whistle, with the teams tied at 0-0.
The second half followed a
similar pattern as Isca pressed harder and harder. Due to the high tempo work
rate in the first half, Teign tired and they could not match the larger Isca
squad for pace. It wasn’t long before Isca managed to break the deadlock with a
timely reverse hit from a penalty corner, that eased its way passed the Teign
defence. Isca’s second goal was scored soon after as Teign were caught napping.
With only a few minutes left,
Teign were awarded a flurry of penalty corners and were able to find the goal
with a well struck shot from Becky Gallagher. Player of the Match was awarded
to Steph Hall for battling valiantly in defence.
Despite the loss, this again was
a strong performance by Teign and are hoping to find their much needed win next
week when they play Sidmouth and Ottery on home ground.
