A Ben Ayres hat-trick sealed an impressive 5-1 win over
Chard for Teign Men’s 1st XI as they continue their unbeaten
pre-season.
Last weeks’ impressive 1-1 home draw with Oakhampton was
followed up this week with a commanding performance on the road against Chard
as Teign continue to adapt to a higher standard of opposition following last
seasons’ promotion.
The game started evenly with both teams exchanging goal
mouth opportunities before Teign finally took the lead through striker Ayres,
latching on to a glorious through-ball from Henry Burningham. Chard equalised
following a strong counter-attack but Teign quickly regained the lead through
Dominic Spayne, finishing a square ball from Ayres at close range. Teign then
took a two goal advantage into the interval through Burningham, finishing from
a short corner.
Teign complete their pre-season with a friendly against ECV
Hornets on Saturday.
