Teign Men’s 1st XI finished an amazing league season
unbeaten with a 7-0 home win over Caradon.
A stunning second half hat-trick from Richie Fisher sealed a
dominate performance whilst leading scorer Ben Ayres passed the 40 goal tally for
the season with a brace. Nick Holliday
and Tom Brooks completed the scoring for the home side. Teign are unbeaten in
the league since 13th October 2012, a run that covers a remarkable 39
games.
Teign also faced Plymouth Marjons B in the semi-final of the
Devon Trophy on Sunday. They took the lead through Ryan Bougourd but two well
worked penalty corner routines gave Marjons a 2-1 half time lead. Despite being
down to nine men at one point, Teign showed great resolve and character in the
second half, holding off further pressure from their opponents and eventually
getting the equaliser through Richie Fisher. The game ended 2-2 and was decided
on penalty flicks with Marjons winning 4-2.
Teign Men’s 2nd XI travelled to Plymouth
University C on Saturday and picked up their fourth consecutive win with two
goals from Pete Brooks and one from Nathanial Christian-John. They finished
comfortably 8th in South East Division 2.
Teign Ladies 1st XI finished a difficult season
with a 2-0 defeat away to ISCA 3s. They remain in Premier Division 2b for the
next season.
Teign Ladies 2nd XI put in a valiant effort at
home against table-topping Kingsbridge & Salcombe, eventually losing 3-0
despite great periods of pressure on the visitors goal. They remain in Petroc
Division 1 as relegation rivals Newton Abbot lost at home to Dartmouth. The win
over Newton Abbot two weeks ago ultimately saving their season.
Teign Ladies 3rd XI, in only their second season
of hockey, lost 2-0 away to Sidmouth & Ottery 3s, ending the season at the
bottom of Petroc Division 2.
