07.12.13 - Mens 1s vs Caradon (away)

Teign Finish the Year on a High

Teign men’s 1st XI ended 2014 unbeaten and top of the table following a hard-fought 2-1 win away against Caradon.

In what was anticipated to be a much less challenging fixture a well organised Caradon team delivered a first half performance that was in stark contrast to their league position, stunning Teign with the early goal from a short corner. Teign struggled to get any shape, possession or meaningful chances on goal, and but for a lengthy debate between the two umpires would have closed the half two goals down; Caradon’s second eventually disallowed for a high stick, although the decision was borderline and the home side rightly felt aggrieved.

Teign regrouped at the interval and came out fighting, pressing Caradon high up the pitch and chasing down every loose ball. The tactical switch that moved eventual man of the match Nick Holliday from full back to centre midfield gave Teign much greater balance and presence in the midfield area, and it released George Burningham further forward, resulting in Teign’s equaliser ten minutes in to the second half. With the wind in their sails Teign dominated the final twenty minutes of the match and their energy and determination was personified by the winning goal scored by Ben Ayres; controlling a sixteen yard hit out from close range and slotting it under the advancing keeper. Further chances to seal the game were missed but Caradon had little opportunity to create any chances of their own, even when Teign played five minutes with a man less due to a yellow card for Ayres.

The game finished 2-1 to the visitors who enter the Christmas break a point clear of Tavistock. The second half of the season kicks off on January 18th with a trip to Cambourne SoM.

30.11.13 - Mens 1s vs East Devon A (Home)

Teign maintained their one hundred percent home record with a 3-0 win against East Devon A, retaining their place at the top of the table as the winter break approaches.
In what was a close game from start to finish against an experienced East Devon side, Teign had to ensure their quality shone when it mattered. Whilst the game moved quickly from end to end and the visitors had a fair proportion of the possession, Teign held territorial superiority. They converted this into a scoreboard lead midway through the first half when Ryan Bougourd showed his neat cricket skills, dispatching a high cross to gully, which in happened to be the far corner of the net.
Before the break Teign added their second as midfield maestro Henry Burningham fired in a dangerous pass to the back post which an East Devon defender unwittingly deflected in. Needless to say, Burningham claimed the goal.
Pivotal to the final result was a solid defensive performance that limited to East Devon to just one shot on goal in the entire match, giving a solid platform for their attack to build on. This was never more tested then in the second half as East Devon threw more men forward in search of a way back into the match. It was to no avail however, as another textbook goal from striker Ben Ayres sealed the win. He latched onto a through-ball and dived into a one-on-one with the goalkeeper, squeezing the ball over the line.
Teign wrap up the first half of the season with a trip to Caradon this weekend.

23.11.13 - Men's 1s vs Tavistock (Away)

Teign Men’s 1st XI drew 0-0 away to title rivals Tavistock this Saturday to remain top of the table.
The eagerly awaited early even fixture between the top two teams in the division was sadly affected by bright low lying sun behind one goal that made playing into the sun a severe disadvantage. As a result, Teign struggled to maintain much possession in the first half as it was impossible to pick out your own players, a fate that Tavistock had to endure for the second half.
Despite this some good hockey was played but both sides largely cancelled each other out and chances on goal were at a premium. Neither side was able to produce much quality from the limited penalty corners on offer and the final result was a fair reflection on the game.
For Teign it was important to maintain their unbeaten run, especially away from home. The top three sides in the table are now separated by a single point but Teign will be glad that they have face both title rivals away from home in the first half of the season.
Teign are at home to East Devon this weekend and will be keen to win their remaining two fixtures before the Christmas break.

16.11.13 - Ladies 3s vs Dart 3s (Home)

Teign Ladies 3s Lost 5-1 to a well organised Dart 3’s side at home this weekend.
Teign had great periods of possession in the opening stages of the game and created several chances on goal, taking the lead through Ruth Atkinson who angled home a strong cross from the right.
The goal sparked Dart in to life and they forced themselves back into the contest, winning the midfield battle and creating a series of goal mouth opportunities of their own. Unfortunately for Teign, Dart were more clinical and managed to convert on three occasions, taking a 3-1 lead into the interval.
Ultimately Dart’s greater quality in midfield was too much for Teign and despite fighting valiantly in the second half, two further goals followed for the visitors. It was a promising performance for Teign following a string of disappointing results. This weekend they face Torbay 2s, with both sides winless this season it will be a real chance to chalk up a win.

16.11.13 - Mens 1s vs Plymouth Uni A (Home)

Teign Teach Plymouth Uni a Hard Lesson

Last seasons’ top scorer Ben Ayres put in a phenomenal five goal performance to add the gloss on an impressive 10-1 win for Teign as they remain league leaders.

Despite going into the game with six goals on the season this game was definitely a return to old form for Ayres, as slid and dived around the penalty box to score a fine collection of improbable goals.  He was ably supported by midfielder Richie Fisher who added his third hat-trick of the season, and Ryan Bougourd who chipped in with a brace.

Plymouth University A’s consolation goal came in the second half from the penalty spot and it was well deserved. They brought a skilful and energetic side with a decent league record but came up against Teign at their ruthless best.

Teign’s run of good form is peaking just at the right time as they face Tavistock this weekend. Tavistock sit second in the table, just a point behind Teign.

09.11.13 - Mens 1s vs USHC Plymouth (Home)

High Tempo Teign Win Again
Another dominant performance resulted in a commanding 6-0 home win for league leaders Teign against USHC Plymouth.
Teign anticipated a stern test as unbeaten USHC started the game third in the table but their aggressive high tempo attacking play was too much for the visitors. Despite having a few passages of good passing play early in the game USHC were unable to hold any meaningful control on the game. Swift counter-attacking from Teign giving them the early lead through Jed Jackson and further goals followed from George Burningham and Henry Burningham to give Teign a 3-0 lead at the break.
The second half exploded to life with an early goal from Henry Burningham, again from a short corner. USHC immediately rallied and the game quickly became very intense as the visitors took offence to the scoreboard pressure from Teign. It was to no avail however; Teign added two more goals through Richie Fisher and then George Burningham to seal a comprehensive result.
Teign are at home to Plymouth University A this weekend looking to extend their sequence of victories to five.

09.11.13 - Ladies 1s vs Bude (Away)

Bude 0 v 1 Teign
With a few players missing this weekend, a depleted Teign team travelled to Bude desperate for a win to lift them out of the relegation zone.
The game was high tempo from the start and a strong confident Bude side maintained possession well and created chances from the first whistle. Grace Bruce and Rachel Thorne stepped into defence for Teign and were called into action instantly with GB deflecting a shot wide on the right post. Bude continued to push for an early goal to take advantage of an unsettled Teign side but Teign defended well and kept them out.
As the game progressed, Teign began to settle and build possession through midfield although finding holes in the Bude defence was proving difficult. Noteworthy performances from Becky Gallagher, Megan Bruce and Katie Emmerton as they settled into the team well after being called up from the 2nd team.
Just before the half time whistle an early ball from Claire Rochelle fell fortunately to Katie Rochelle who managed to break away from her defender and drive into the D, as the goalkeeper came out she picked her spot and buried the ball in the top left corner of the goal.
Teign knew the game was far from over and a frustrated Bude side came out strong looking for the equalising goal but Teign defended tirelessly. Player of the match GB covered ground well and made some crucial interceptions whilst Hazel Tranchant made some superb saves in the Teign goal. After a series of penalty corners to Bude, Teign were forced to have a reshuffle in defence as Shannon Keating bravely took a drag flick to the head and was forced to sit out for the rest of the game.
Teign’s best chance at securing the win came from a lovely move down the right as BG pulled the back up across goal for Megan Bruce to place her shot just inches wide of the right post. As the final whistle blew, a huge sigh of relief was evident throughout the Teign side. An important 3 points for Teign and hopefully a start to climbing back up the league table.
Next week they face Clevedon at home 12 o clock start.

02.11.13 - Men's 1s vs Bude A (Away)

Teign Go Top With Win over Bude A
Teign Men’s 1st XI picked up three points on their travels with a comfortable 7-1 win over Bude A, taking top spot in the Southern 2 League table in the process.
Gale force winds meant that playing with the wind was a surreal advantage. In the first half Teign had the wind with them and goals from Tom Brooks (2), Ben Ayres (2) and Henry Burningham killed the contest before the interval.  In the second half Teign had to battle the elements to convert their chances and were only able to add two more; Dave Jeffs continuing his run of goals and Tom Brooks completing his hat-trick. However, it was an ugly and unpleasant half of hockey; communication in the wind was impossible, as was moving the ball and even running at times, so Teign were grateful of the final whistle.
Tavistock lost away to Marjons B meaning that Teign went clear at the top by a point. This weekend Teign face unbeaten USHC Plymouth at home.

26.10.13 & 27.10.13 - Men's 1s Double-Header

Back to Back Wins Send Teign Second in the Table
Teign Men’s 1st XI won two games this weekend to go second in the table, two points behind leaders Tavistock. Teign scored 21 goals in two comfortable wins, greatly improving their goal difference and sending a message to the rest of the league in the process.
On Saturday Teign entertained Bodmin A; a team struggling for results following player departures from last season, which is never nice to see. They played with a lot of spirit and determination but having fielded youngsters playing their first game of hockey the result was inevitable. Teign scored quick goals to kill the game in the first five minutes then took a 7-0 lead into the interval. The second half only got worse for Bodmin as Teign racked up another nine goals, bringing the score to 16-0. Goals were scored by Jamie Hill, Jacob O’Connor, Dominic Spayne, Dave Jeffs, Jed Jackson, Henry Burningham (2), Tom Brooks (2), Ben Ayres (2) and George Buningham (5).
On Sunday Teign played the re-arranged opening day fixture against Cambourne SoM, who were only able to travel with ten men. Cambourne were well organised and technically gifted but clinical and ruthless attacking from Teign in the first half wrapped up the result in just twenty minutes as Teign took an insurmountable 3-0 lead that they held until half time, goals coming from Ben Ayres, Henry Burningham and Jed Jackson. Teign added two more in the second half through Tom Brooks and another from Ben Ayres, before Cambourne scored a well-deserved consolation goal.
This weekend Teign travel to Bude A hoping to keep the pressure on the league leaders Tavistock, who they face on 23rd November.

19.10.13 - Mens 2s vs Minehead (Home)

Teign A 9 - 1 Minehead B

Teign A followed a narrow defeat last week with a first win of the season against Minehead B. Even though minehead only started the game with 8 players, they defended well in the first half until teign got the first goal. minehead did equalise in the first half to make it 1 - 1. Teign had a couple more chances before the break but the score stayed at 1 - 1. In the second half teign finally got into the game much more and created lots more chances. And as the half went on minehead were getting more tired with the lack of players they had at there disposal. Teign capatilised on this and quickly took the game beyond doubt. Two hat tricks from Pete Brooks and Nathaniel Christian-John. also a debut goal from one of our up and coming juniors Tom Price who impressed well playing his first senior game. also goals from returning Ryan Bougourd and Will Boyne continued his fine form with a goal as well. Teign A are away this saturday against Taunton Vale D were Teign are lookin for their second win of the season.

19.10.13 - Ladies 2s vs Sidmouth & Ottery 2s (Home)

Teign 2s 4 – Sidmouth and Ottery 2s 0
Teign 2s turned out early on a grey Saturday morning for their home tie against Sidmouth and Ottery 2s.  The team were in good spirits despite losing their first 4 games of the season.
The home team started strong, using the ball to good affect across the whole pitch. Steph Hall was using some great width and space to generate momentum for Teign; this was supported by Lauren Hawkins and Tina Long in the middle of the field.
Despite Teign getting the majority of the play, the opposition still created chances and it was a strong defence of Steph Hall, Jo Day and Mollie Robinson that kept Sidmouth and Ottery at bay. The opener for Teign came from Lauren Hawkins who picked up the ball from some lovely linking play between herself, Tina Long and Katie Emmerton.  1-0 Teign.
Teign kept pressing, using all their strength to keep putting Sidmouth and Ottery under pressure.  Lauren Hawkins took a commanding role in the middle, playing slightly more attacking with Long in support, it was Hawkins that found the back of the net again to make it 2-0 at half time.
Half time allowed Teign to reflect on their strategy and put down a solid plan to deal with how they would keep the pressure on, knowing full well that Sidmouth and Ottery could work their back into the game.
With some strong passing from the whistle and great width being created from the defence, the ball was fired in from a long cross from the left, which found Becky Gallagher in the D, with quick reactions, Gallagher attacked the ball in front of the keeper and at full stretch slotted the ball in the goal.
With 10 minutes to go, Teign were awarded a penalty corner.  Jo Osborne injected to Long, who fired home the forth from a hard struck straight strike.
Player of the Match went to birthday girl, Lauren Hawkins.
Teign now have a 2 week break before playing at home to Exe 3s.

19.10.13 - Mens 1s vs Marjons (Away)

Tough Away Draw Keeps Unbeaten Run Going

Teign earned an important point away to Plymouth Marjons B as they battle back to draw 1-1.

The early start coupled with complacency following last week’s easy victory resulted in a slow start for Teign. Marjons controlled the game from the first whistle, were well organised and very skilful on the ball, proving to be the toughest challenge Teign have faced in over a year. Marjons put together a string of chances on goal and took the lead from a Short Corner, and but for a Man of The Match performance from Teign keeper Oliver Robinson, could have been several goals in front.

At the break Teign regrouped and began working on the mistakes of the first half. Instantly they pressed high and injected energy and enthusiasm into the game, with greater courage on the ball in tight situations. This pressure forced Marjons into mistakes and their passing game began to fall away. Teign persistence was rewarded with an equaliser two minutes from the end of the game following a deadly strike from Dave Jeffs on a short corner.

The game finished 1-1 and it was definitely a point gained for Teign following such a poor first half. Teign have two home games this weekend as their entertain Bodmin A and Cambourne SoM with six points needed to keep their title push on track.

12.10.05 - Mens 1s vs ISCA C (Home)

Dominant Teign Trash Title Rivals
Aided by another four goal haul from Richie Fisher, Teign put in another huge performance as they beat ISCA C 10-1 at home.
Both sides were promoted together last season and with ISCA confidently winning their first two fixtures it seemed that they would once again be the team to beat for Teign but the result showed otherwise.
Teign took a comfortable half-time lead with all the goals coming from midfield, first from Dave Jeffs from close range, then with two sweet strikes from youngsters Tom Brooks and Nick Holliday. But for heroics from the ISCA keeper the score at the interval could have been much worse for the visitors.
In the second half the flood gates opened with two goals from striker George Burnigham than midfielder Henry Burningham from a short corner, but the show belong to Teign’s sensational South African Richie Fisher. He struck four times and but for more great saves from the ISCA keeper could have added more. ISCA added a consolation goal with their only effort on goal.
Teign have now gone an entire year without defeat and face an early start away to Plymouth Marjons B this weekend as they look to continue that run.

12.10.13 - Ladies 1s vs Newquay (Home)

Teign took the early lead against league leaders Newquay but couldn't contend with their fitness & strength in the 2nd half as the visitors ran out 3-1 winners.

Teign started strong with chances on goal in the first few minutes, Laura Clark back from injury put Teign in the lead after beating a defender and the goalkeeper with a great bit of skill. Things were looking positive for Teign with lots of attacking play in the first half but a few Newquay breaks could have easily levelled the scores if it were not for some solid tackling from Jackie Brooks and Shannon Keating.

Newquay came out stronger after the break and dominated most of the play leaving Teign chasing the game, it wasn't long before they equalised after a penalty corner found a Teign foot infront of goal resulting in a penalty flick that Hazel Tranchant could do little about.

Players of the match Laura Clark and Katie Rochelle worked well together up front but a solid Newquay defence cut out any chance of a winning goal. Newquay continued to press testing Teign's defence and their patience finally paid off when a Newquay player free at the top of the circle calmly placed the ball into the goal. Teign pushed for the equaliser but with the team tiring a mistake at the back saw Newquay pounce on a stray ball and bury the ball to secure the 3 points for the away side.

An off day for Teign but they will regroup and no doubt come back stronger next week when the travel to Blandford & Sturminster Newton.

12.10.13 - Ladies 2s vs Isca 4 (Away)

Isca 4s 2 – Teign 2s 1

Teign ladies 2s still struggling to find their best form and missing key players, lost their fourth game in a row as they went down to a strong Isca side. On a fast pitch Teign couldn't quite match the pace with which Isca moved the ball and were often on the back foot as the home side attacked. However the Teign defence was resolute and managed the attacking threat well, despite the possession that Isca enjoyed, Teign held strong. On occasion, Teign were able to break the Isca midfield and attack the goal but were unlucky not hold possession and find the goal.  Teign were grateful to hear the half time whistle, with the teams tied at 0-0.

The second half followed a similar pattern as Isca pressed harder and harder. Due to the high tempo work rate in the first half, Teign tired and they could not match the larger Isca squad for pace. It wasn’t long before Isca managed to break the deadlock with a timely reverse hit from a penalty corner, that eased its way passed the Teign defence. Isca’s second goal was scored soon after as Teign were caught napping.

With only a few minutes left, Teign were awarded a flurry of penalty corners and were able to find the goal with a well struck shot from Becky Gallagher. Player of the Match was awarded to Steph Hall for battling valiantly in defence.

Despite the loss, this again was a strong performance by Teign and are hoping to find their much needed win next week when they play Sidmouth and Ottery on home ground.

05.10.13 - Ladies 1s vs Exe 2s (Away)

Exe 2s V Teign Ladies 1XI

Teign travelled to Exe this week in search of 3 points and with a new formation and great team performance they were unlucky to come away with just a 4-0 win!

Teign opened the scoring in the 2nd minute when a long ball from Amy Jones found 'player of the match' Katie Rochelle on the baseline to pull it up across goal for Rosie Partridge to pop in on the right post, 1-0.

Just moments later Laura Clark found KR free in the D to sneak in the 2nd and then the 3rd came from Rachel Thorne who found KR with just the keeper to beat, 3-0. The 4th came from a lovely passage of play down the right involving Jane Rochelle & Jackie Brooks and a goal mouth scramble saw Grace Bruce finally find the backboard.

4-0 at half time and Teign were still hungry for more and pressed for a 5th goal, Exe defended well in the 2nd half keeping the score at 4-0. Throughout the game Teign maintained most of the possession with some great passing throughout the pitch, leaving Exe chasing the game and very few chances.

This Saturday Teign will need another strong performance as they face top of the league Newquay 12:00 at home.

05.10.13 - Mens 1s vs ECV Hornets B (Away)

Fisher Smashes Four as Teign Start With a Win

Four goals and a man of the match performance from Richie Fisher secured an opening day win over ECV Hornets B for Teign Men’s 1st XI.

Teign began the game at a distinct disadvantage as player absences meant they had to play the entire match with only ten men. Despite this they pressed early and were awarded a penalty flick as the ECV keeper took down Ben Ayres in the penalty area. Fisher dispatched the flick and Teign took a 1-0 lead into the interval.

The second half started with a fiercely contested penalty flick decision in ECV’s favour and Teign keeper Oliver Robinson was unable to stop the equaliser. Feeling aggrieved at the decision Teign rallied strongly and quickly regained the lead as Tom Brooks feed Nick Holiday, who rounded the keeper and slotted home from close range.

Remarkably the game saw a third penalty flick awarded and Fisher added his second to give Teign a two goal lead. ECV briefly fought back, responding with a goal from a short corner, but Teign dug deep and added two more goals through Fisher to run away 5-2 winners.

Teign play their first home game of the season this weekend as they entertain title rivals ISCA C.

05.10.13 - Teign Mens 2s vs North Devon A (Home)

Teign A 4 - 6 North Devon A

A ten goal thriller at sandy Lane resulted in Teign A’s second defeat in a disappointing start to the season.

Teign started the match well, dominating possession and adding early goals through veteran Pete Brooks and new signing Nathanial Christian-John. North Devon’s come back was initially held back as Teign keeper Liam Town saved a penalty flick but ultimately the visitor accumulated three goals before the break to hold a slender lead at the interval.

In the second half Teign briefly levelled the score as Christian-John added his second but the depleted Teign side did not have the legs to keep North Devon at bay for long. Three more goals followed from the visitors before Christian-John completed his outstanding hat-trick to finish the scoring with the visitors winning 6-4.

Teign A travel to Okehampton next weekend in search of their first victory.

05.10.13 - Teign Ladies 2s vs Dart 3s (Home)

Teign Ladies 2s 0 – Dart 3
An Injury stricken Teign Ladies 2s side made great improvements on recent results but still fell 3-0 at home to a skilful Dart Ladies 1s team, their third league defeat in a row.

The first half proved to be costly as Teign valiantly defend but were unable to prevent Dart from scoring all of their goals before the interval following an organised performance from the visitors.

To their credit Teign regrouped at half time and made tactical changes, adding youthful energy to their midfield in Megan Bruce and Becky Gallagher, who shared the plaudits as joint ‘Player of the Match’. Despite applying considerable pressure and creating multiple chances, Teign were unable to register a deserved goal.

Teign will face ISCA 4s next weekend hoping that their form continues to improve and the results finally fall their way.

Monday 7 October 2013

28.09.13 - Mens 2s vs Bridgewater B (Away)

Bridgewater B 4  - 3 Teign A

Teign Mens A team returned to league action with a gut-wrenching last minute defeat away to Bridgwater B.
In recent years this fixture has proven to be a close and hard-fought affair and Saturday’s match continued in that vein. Despite good early pressure from Bridgewater it was Teign who took the lead as Will Boyne finished from close range from a Joss Chapel cross, however, the lead was short-lived as Bridgwater squeezed home an equaliser before the break.
In the second half the ageing legs in both teams tired and the game began to open up with more chances at each end. Teign regained the lead first through Oliver Robinson and again through Pete Brooks, but on both occasions Bridgwater promptly equalised. Teign squandered opportunities to take the lead for a fourth time and Bridgwater punished them for it, finding the net with seconds left on the clock.
It was a bitter pill to swallow but Teign must pick themselves up for a visit from North Devon A at Sandy Lane this weekend.
Teign Mens 1st team were not in action this weekend as their trip to Cambourne SoM was rearranged for Sunday 27th October.

28.09.13 - Ladies 1s vs Westberries (Home)

Teign 1 Westberries 2

Teign knew the opening match of their league campaign against last season’s runners up was going to be tough and a last minute goal saw the visitors take all three points with a 1-2 win.
Teign started the game positively with a good spell of possession and Katie Rochelle opened up the scoring early on with a reverse stick strike from an early ball from Rachel Thorne.
The game was end to end with both teams having chances but it was Westberries next on the score board after a quick break found their striker in the D who unleashed a fierce shot that Hazel Tranchant could do little about leaving the score 1-1 at half time.
Westberries came out strong and dominated most of the play in the 2nd half as tired Teign legs struggled to keep up with the pace, some great defending kept Westberries at bay.
Players of the match Amy Jones and Kate Rochelle linked well down the left and had the umpire of played advantage Teign would have taken the lead as Jones’ goal on the whistle was disallowed. With two minutes to go Teign would have been happy with a point but a free hit to Westberries found a player on the right post to deflect home the winning goal.
This Saturday Teign travel to Exe where they hope to get some points on the board.

In other results, Teign Ladies 2s lost away to Dartmouth 5-0 and Teign Ladies 3s drew an entertaining home tie against Sidmouth & Ottery 4s 3-3.

Wednesday 18 September 2013

14.09.13 - Mens 1s vs Chard (Away)

A Ben Ayres hat-trick sealed an impressive 5-1 win over Chard for Teign Men’s 1st XI as they continue their unbeaten pre-season.

Last weeks’ impressive 1-1 home draw with Oakhampton was followed up this week with a commanding performance on the road against Chard as Teign continue to adapt to a higher standard of opposition following last seasons’ promotion.

The game started evenly with both teams exchanging goal mouth opportunities before Teign finally took the lead through striker Ayres, latching on to a glorious through-ball from Henry Burningham. Chard equalised following a strong counter-attack but Teign quickly regained the lead through Dominic Spayne, finishing a square ball from Ayres at close range. Teign then took a two goal advantage into the interval through Burningham, finishing from a short corner.

Chard heads dropped and they didn’t threaten in the second half as Teign grew in confidence. Ayres added two more goals to complete his hat-trick, but Teign were wasteful and could have added much more to their total.

Teign complete their pre-season with a friendly against ECV Hornets on Saturday.

07.09.13 - Ladies 1s - Exe Tournement

1st game vs Bude (2-0 win) Michelle Judge had to start as our 11th player as 2 players were running late! We had the majority of play, first goal was from a PC when Grace deflected home Jackie's fierce strike on the left post, 2nd was a quick free hit to Jackie who sent a dream ball hard into the D for Kate to deflect into the goal. The heavens opened on us and we spent the rest of the day like drowned rats!

2nd game vs ISCA (2-0 loss) Much faster game from the start, Teign did a lot of chasing although had there moments testing ISCA's keeper. ISCA finished their chances well.

3rd game vs Mannamead (5-0 win)
Teign had to win to ensure they went through to the semi final as runners up to ISCA. Teign had all the play and goals flowed, Jackie opening the scoring with a straight strike from a PC, then Grace made it 2 through a lovely move round the right baseline by Kate who pulled the ball back up to grace who carefully placed the ball into the left corner. The third and forth both came from PC's, 1 from Kate who pounced on a rebound from Jackie's strike and the forth from Rosie P taking a rebound from Rachel's strike. The final goal came from a run from Jackie, taking on two players before burying the ball in the back of the net.

Teign then had to hot foot it over to St Peter's pitch to play Plymouth Marjons in the semi final. Teign started slow, tired legs were evident and Marjons found themselves 2-0 up at half time despite some great defending by Teign. Teign came back out fighting in the 2nd half and had the majority of play but only managed to pull back 1 goal through a run down the left from Kate who crossed a bullet into the D at hip height for Grace to deflect home the goal of the day!

All in all, a good performance by Teign in their first friendly fixture of the season and it was nice to have Hannah Walsh and Nikki Taylor back in the squad. Next sat they play Plymouth Marjons again in a friendly at home 12o'clock start.
