Teign Men’s 2s vs Sidmouth & Ottery D
Teign Men’s 2nd team cemented eight place in
South East Division 2 with a comfortable 3-1 home win over Sidmouth & Ottery D.
The return to fitness of stalwart striker Pete Brooks, involved in all three
goals, powered Teign to their third win on the bounce as they look to end the
season strong.
Bottom of the table Sidmouth & Ottery, fielding a very
youthful side full of future promise, started well and through crisp passing
worked the opener with a neat deflected finish past Liam Town in the Teign
goal. Teign responded well and as a short corner looked to have broken down
Pete Brooks audaciously chipped the Sidmouth keeper from the edge of the D to
score the equaliser.
After the interval Teign dominated the game and carved out
multiple chances in front of goal, eventually taking the lead as Pete Brooks
again chipped the keeper from the edge of the D. Before Sidmouth could regroup
Teign quickly added a third as Brooks again put the ball over the advancing
keeper, this time youngster Charlie Judge applying the finishing touch. The
comical highlight of the game came as Teign centre back Dominic Spayne broke
down a Sidmouth corner, ran the length of the pitch rounding several players
and the keeper, only to miss an open goal from ten yards out, much to the amusement
of the full home crowd.
Teign finish the season with a trip to Plymouth University C
this weekend.
