08.03.14 - Mens 1s vs Plymouth University A (Away)

Teign Close in on promotion
Teign Men’s 1st XI went a step closer to promotion with an impressive 10-0 win away at Plymouth University A this weekend. The result means that victory this weekend will seal Teign’s third consecutive promotion.
With some underwhelming performances of late it was an impressive return to form for Teign, crushing a Plymouth University side that were confident of handing Teign their first defeat of the season. As it transpired, greater quality in all areas of the pitch and some exceptional match play made this a very one-sided match.
Richie Fisher and Henry Burningham controlled the centre midfield for Teign, spraying balls forward despite constant pressing from Plymouth University. Wingers Ryan Bougourd and Tom Brooks were frequently involved but the glory all went to Teign’s impressive strike duo, Ben Ayres and George Burningham, with Ayres picking up four goals and Burningham three. The scoring was completed with goals from Henry Burningham, josh Boyne and Richie Fisher.
This weekend Teign entertain title rivals Tavistock, who they hold a four point lead over with three games remaining. Victory will assure Teign of promotion and almost certainly deny Tavistock, making this a mouth-watering contest at Sandy Lane.
Teign Roundup…
