Teign Go Top With Win over Bude A
Teign Men’s 1st XI picked up three points on
their travels with a comfortable 7-1 win over Bude A, taking top spot in the
Southern 2 League table in the process.
Gale force winds meant that playing with the wind was a
surreal advantage. In the first half Teign had the wind with them and goals
from Tom Brooks (2), Ben Ayres (2) and Henry Burningham killed the contest
before the interval. In the second half Teign
had to battle the elements to convert their chances and were only able to add
two more; Dave Jeffs continuing his run of goals and Tom Brooks completing his
hat-trick. However, it was an ugly and unpleasant half of hockey; communication
in the wind was impossible, as was moving the ball and even running at times,
so Teign were grateful of the final whistle.
Tavistock lost away to Marjons B meaning that Teign went
clear at the top by a point. This weekend Teign face unbeaten USHC Plymouth at
home.
