Tough Away Draw Keeps Unbeaten Run Going
Teign earned an important point away to Plymouth Marjons B
as they battle back to draw 1-1.
The early start coupled with complacency following last
week’s easy victory resulted in a slow start for Teign. Marjons controlled the
game from the first whistle, were well organised and very skilful on the ball,
proving to be the toughest challenge Teign have faced in over a year. Marjons
put together a string of chances on goal and took the lead from a Short Corner,
and but for a Man of The Match performance from Teign keeper Oliver Robinson,
could have been several goals in front.
At the break Teign regrouped and began working on the
mistakes of the first half. Instantly they pressed high and injected energy and
enthusiasm into the game, with greater courage on the ball in tight situations.
This pressure forced Marjons into mistakes and their passing game began to fall
away. Teign persistence was rewarded with an equaliser two minutes from the end
of the game following a deadly strike from Dave Jeffs on a short corner.
The game finished 1-1 and it was definitely a point gained
for Teign following such a poor first half. Teign have two home games this
weekend as their entertain Bodmin A and Cambourne SoM with six points needed to
keep their title push on track.
