Bridgewater B 4 - 3
Teign A
Teign Mens A team returned to league action with a
gut-wrenching last minute defeat away to Bridgwater B.
In recent years this fixture has proven to be a close and
hard-fought affair and Saturday’s match continued in that vein. Despite good
early pressure from Bridgewater it was Teign who took the lead as Will Boyne
finished from close range from a Joss Chapel cross, however, the lead was
short-lived as Bridgwater squeezed home an equaliser before the break.
In the second half the ageing legs in both teams tired and
the game began to open up with more chances at each end. Teign regained the
lead first through Oliver Robinson and again through Pete Brooks, but on both
occasions Bridgwater promptly equalised. Teign squandered opportunities to take
the lead for a fourth time and Bridgwater punished them for it, finding the net
with seconds left on the clock.
It was a bitter pill to swallow but Teign must pick
themselves up for a visit from North Devon A at Sandy Lane this weekend.
Teign Mens 1st team were not in action this
weekend as their trip to Cambourne SoM was rearranged for Sunday 27th
October.
